Ever wonder why you have lingering or ongoing pain in your back, elbow, neck, shoulder or knees? Trigger points are muscles that knot up and don't release even though you have stretched and strengthen the area. By inserting a very thin acupuncture-like or monofilament needle into the muscle, tendon or ligament, it can release the muscle, stimulate healing and relief your pain, sometimes instantly.
Difficulty getting into see your physician or physical therapist? No referral needed. I COME TO YOU. Visits can be performed in your own home or office setting. A table will be set up in a private area of your choosing. This saves you time in your day for a quick treatment before work, over your lunch break or when you get home after a busy day.
What's involved? A small needle is inserted into the muscle where a trigger point is located. The needles are very thin which makes it less likely to feel anything but a small prick. Depending on the area, several needles are used and electrical stimulation may be applied if appropriate. Most people don't feel much at all!
Treats Headaches, TMJ, Shoulder/ rotator cuff strain, Achilles Tendonitis, Plantar Fasciitis, Hip or Knee Arthritis, Low back pain/strain, Ankle or Knee sprain, Carpal Tunnel, Golfers/Tennis Elbow, Whiplash, PHN and many more.
Kinesiotape can be used to support a joint or muscle without confining or limiting your motion. This can allow the muscle to rest or help decrease swelling or bruising.
Ultrasound is a deep heat applied to the sore muscle which helps increase blood flow and relax the muscle.
Also known as a TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) unit can be applied alone or during dry needling treatment. This helps the muscle to relax by interfering with the pain pathway to the brain which sends messages to the muscle letting it know it's in pain. Less messages results in muscle relaxation and decreased pain.
Performing the right exercises can help speed your recovery. A personalized exercise program can be issued for specific injuries with in-depth instructions.
